Day 3

Day 3 – Thursday August 6th

A – Today’s reading of the day is James Chapter 3 (I’m still using King James Version (KJV) this round.)

Focal verse today is James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”

Review of the day: Verse 13 “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” Verse 18 “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”

B – RHEMA Strike Verse of the day:
Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Friendship/Green)

C – Excerpt from “Wild at Heart” by John Eldridge:
“Deep in a man’s heart are some fundamental questions that simply cannot be answered at the kitchen table. Who am I? What am I made of? What am I destined for? … But the answers to his deepest questions are not to be found on television or in a refrigerator … He is called out, called up into something much bigger then he ever imagined, … If a man is ever to find out who he is and what he’s here for, he has got to take that journey for himself.”

D – Today’s input: Do you know who you are? Do others know who you are? Are you what God wants you to be? We are not in our wisdom. We are not in our strength. We are not in our riches, whatever they may be. To be what God wants us to be we need to be like what God is like. Lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness. Seek God and seek to be like God. Which is totally different then being a god, because if we truly look into ourselves and if we could see what others see of how we see ourselves, we are most likely fooling ourselves and acting as if we are our own god.

E – Today’s prayer focus: In addition to the previous day’s prayer focus’s, add a prayer to find in God the knowledge and characteristics that he has that he would like us to learn and practice. Those things that are first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

F – Encouragement and closing thoughts: I think that we have all heard the phrase “Stand for what is right or you’ll fall for anything.” Let’s take a stand and look to Ephesians 6 for some guidance.
